2020 MusicFest Canceled Due to COVID-19

After receiving input from many in our community (including SmartHub Foundation Board members, beneficiaries, volunteers, sponsors, City of Lancaster officials and other stakeholders), we have made the decision to cancel Lancaster MusicFest 2020.

The Lancaster MusicFest experience is characterized by the Lancaster community coming together to enjoy live music in a festival atmosphere and celebrating the impact that our beneficiaries (Lancaster Housing Opportunity Partnership and Children’s Miracle Network) are having in our community.  That experience is, at its core, live and in-person, shared by many people simultaneously in the same space.  The most current information we have from the City of Lancaster is that in the interest of public health, in-person events will be required to be significantly limited in size through at least this Fall.  As a result, the City of Lancaster has advised many organizations (including SmartHub Foundation) to postpone large in-person events until 2021.

The decision to cancel Lancaster MusicFest 2020 was not an easy one.  After speaking with many stakeholders and evaluating a number of different options for an online virtual event, it became clear that the current situation precludes us from producing Lancaster MusicFest 2020 in an authentic way that effectively amplifies the impact that Lancaster Housing Opportunity Partnership and Children’s Miracle Network are having in our community.

Even so, SmartHub Foundation still actively supports both Lancaster Housing Opportunity Partnership and Children’s Miracle Network.  We will be making a financial contribution to both organizations in 2020, and we encourage everyone in our community to do so as well (see below for details).

We acknowledge that the decision to cancel Lancaster MusicFest 2020 is disappointing.  We have received feedback from many in the Lancaster community that they have come to look forward to the event, and that it has become a meaningful part of their Fall experience.  If this is true for you, we encourage you join us by taking action now:

  1. Learn more about Lancaster Housing Opportunity Partnership by visiting http://lhop.org
  2. Learn more about Children’s Miracle Network by visiting http://CMNHershey.org
  3. Make a financial contribution to both organizations by visiting https://bit.ly/32075bt

Mark your calendar now for 11am on Saturday, September 11, 2021, when we will produce Lancaster MusicFest 2021 at Buchanan Park

We appreciate all of the time and effort so many of you have invested in helping us evaluate options for 2020.  We look forward to planning Lancaster MusicFest 2021, and resuming our work amplifying the impact of Lancaster Housing Opportunity Partnership and Children’s Miracle Network.  See you next year!

Thanks,

Launching Lancaster MusicFest

Lancaster MusicFest is an all-day outdoor music festival experience to benefit Children’s Miracle Network.

Lancaster MusicFest features local music acts from Lancaster County. The event will also feature food from local restaurants and food trucks, a beer garden, hot-air balloon rides, and plenty of space to relax with friends, all in a fresh air festival environment.

Your support of Lancaster MusicFest is a great way to participate in the rich music culture for which Lancaster has become known, while partnering with other leading businesses, organizations and individuals to support Children’s Miracle Network, helping them offer lifesaving equipment, family centered programs and transformative research benefitting children right here in Lancaster County.

More than 10 million kids enter a children’s hospital like Penn State Children’s Hospital across North America every year. To provide the best care for kids, children’s hospitals rely on donations and community support, as Medicaid and insurance programs do not fully cover the cost of care. Since 1983, Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals has helped fill those funding gaps by raising more than $5 billion, most of it $1 at a time through Miracle Balloon icon campaigns. Its various fundraising partners and programs support the nonprofit’s mission to save and improve the lives of as many children as possible.
